The 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) nominees have been announced and Nigerian artists have a strong presence in the Best Afrobeats category. Nominations in this category include Burna Boy’s ‘City Boy,’ Tems’ ‘Love Me Jeje,’ and Ayra Starr’s ‘Last Heartbreak Song’ featuring Giveon. Pheelz secured a nomination in the Best Afrobeats category due to his significant contributions to Usher’s ‘Ruin.’
Additionally, Davido and Lojay received nominations for their featured performances on Chris Brown’s ‘Sensational,’ while South African artist Tyla received recognition for her global hit ‘Water.’
Superstar Taylor Swift leads the nominations with ten, closely followed by Post Malone with nine. Ariana Grande, Eminem, and Sabrina Carpenter are all tied for third place with six nominations each.
The 2024 VMAs is scheduled for September 11 at the USB Arena in New York, United States.
